Ship Classes
Space fairing vessels are divided into nine different classes; each containing models made by different companies and governments. For example the Fighter class could contain the R53-3- Razorback made by XYZ company and the DX48- made by the Centauri lunar colony. As writers create ships, they should be classified by the following:

Banshee: The banshee class, also referred to as screamers, are low occupancy crafts. They range from one to two man ships and are usually outfitted with powerful engines and a lightweight robust armor. Banshees are normally used for recreational space travel and racing; however, some militant factions have retrofitted them with light to mid-grade arms, giving the manoeuvrable banshee a bite to its ear shattering bark.

Corvette: The luxury family cars of space. Corvette class ships are considered high occupancy vehicles able to house one to five people. Bolstering a standard A.I.R. unit, corvettes can travel up to eight hours without having to stop, except for the occasional refreshment of its occupants.

Fighter: The fighter is the millitary version of the Corvette...and slighty larger. These are the fastest most manoverable sub-light ships around—a well oiled machine—and the envy of a thousand Red Barons. They are outfitted with mid-weight armor, and mid-grade arms.

Destroyer: The smallest military class vessel with FTL travel. Destroyers house sophisticated sensor arrays as well as multiple small to mid-grade arms with one or two heavily armed turrets. Destroyers are usually outfitted with A.I.R. units; however some models of the destroyer class still retain the older O.R.U.s. All destroyer class ships are built with a light or mid-weight armor.

Cruiser: The meat of battle, cruiser class ships deal out large amounts of punishment while taking a lot themselves. Their powerful engines are coupled with a FTL drive, allowing them to cruise at top speed. They are outfitted with light rapid fire arms, missiles, and a three to four heavy arms turrets. Cruisers also harness force shielding and mid-weight armor, making them formidable and deadly.

Battleship: The mother big-gun. Battleship class vessels say you mean business. They contain a FTL drive, powerful sub-space engines, and enough supplies to feed an army (literally). Battleships usually contain a docking station for smaller classed vessels such as cruisers, destroyers, and in some instances banshees. They usually have rapid-fire mid grade weaponry as well as automated heavy armed turrets and manned solar-focal lasers. Battleships are outfitted with heavy armor and force shielding.

Dreadnoughts: Sometimes even a battleship is not enough to intimidate the enemy, so you really have to go all out. Dreadnoughts are flying military bases capable of spewing death and destruction while simultaneously readying a fleet of battleships and smaller classed vessels to fly out and clean up the mess. These monstrosities have all the technological doodahs any military base would not be complete without. They have ridiculously powerful FTL drives and heavy armor with force shielding. They also house a plethora of automated defense systems including but not limited to: rapid fire small arms, rapid fire mid arms, heavy armed turrets, solar focal lasers and ionized photon cannons.

Freightliner: Freightliners are your work houses amongst the stars. They carry supplies and goods all around the galaxy. They usually contain powerful twin engines and sometimes FTL engines. They are outfitted with light armor to keep the space trash from getting to the goods.

Carrier: The luxury liners in heaven. Carriers do exactly as their name implies, they carry people. They can house and sustain tens of thousands of occupants and cruise from one place to another at amazing speeds given their size and bulk. They contain FTL drives and are outfitted with mid-grade armor to keep its precious cargo safe.

Time Travel
Time travel is not possible—well theoretically it may be, but we've just chosen not to include it as part of our world. Both time travel and faster than light (FTL) travel are ideas that intersect within the theory of general relativity. Opinions vary, but most physicists would agree that you can't send matter or information faster than light— you just can't break the FTL speed limit. However, time travel does not contradict relativity, so it's theoretically possible.

So why'd we choose FTL travel over time travel? A simple answer is...time travel is too complex with all of its paradoxes and alternate timelines, and FTL travel made for a more interesting universe.

One more thing to think about, general relativity is...just a theory. Physics is ever growing and changing—just think about how much our understanding of everything has changed over the past 100 years. We've yet to develop a Theory of Everything...our knowledge of the very small, quantum mechanics, and the very large, general relativity, don't play well together. Out of all the knowledge in the universe...how much do you think humanity understands? 50, 20, 10...I doubt we even know 1% of the knowledge there is to know.
