Description: The Armark are a highly intelligent race, averaging at three times the average human IQ. They have blue skin, varying in shade from a light blue to navy blue, usually steel blue. Their hair comes in one of three known colors: Crimson, Steel, and Icy blue (the color of glacial ice). They have two eyes, small ears, nose pores, and as many varieties of facial design as that of a human. The front of the neck is a lighter color than most of their face, while the back is generally the same. The lighter neck colors often extend up around the nose and up to the eyes. The Armark don't have acne problems, they have occasional hair growth booms, usually on their face, though these rarely occur. Armark vision tends to be very poor, and cannot be safely fixed through surgery until around 6.72 teracycles.

The Armark body usually has the same color scheme as the neck, with the lighter extending around most of the front and the darker covering the back. Along the spinal area, there is usually a streak of light, sometimes it is just a series of splotches. If the darker tone is light blue, the lighter area either is not there or is very close to white. The body usually has spots of teal scattered in a symmetrical pattern across it. They have four arms, one pair where human arms are, and one coming off an inch or two behind the hips. The top arms are generally slightly lighter than the back, but darker than the front. The lower arms generally are the same color as the front, but occasionally different. They have two legs, both following the same color scheme as the rest of the body. They also have a tail that is the color of the back, and is usually about 2 1/2 feet long. Their feet have four toes, missing the equivalent of the human pinkie toe. The feet, like the rest of the body, follow one general color scheme on the top. The sole tends to have shinier, scale-like material on it. This material is very durable, heat-resistant, and moisture-resistant. Their hands follow the same color scheme as the rest of the body, but have thin fingernails, two fingers, and two thumbs, one on each side of the hand.

The Armark tend to be very social, and often will welcome any visitors that they have never seen. Their generally peaceful nature has led them to attack only if attacked. If a race is hostile to them, they are mostly willing to return the hostility, but often not be aggressive towards a race immediately after meeting them, unless this new race is violent towards them or an ally. They will attempt to conquer or defeat any race that attacks them or their allies, but they never reject any customs or cultures. Instead, they almost always accept them. This makes them one of the most diversified races in the Local Bubble region.

Other Armark are very important to them. If one is harmed, all are harmed. This is sometimes quite literal, because they can occasionally sense the death or pain of nearby Armark. This is thought to be an electrical effect, much as sharks have a 6th sense caused by their lateral line. They usually marry only if they are sure of their love, and they rarely ever divorce. They tend to treat all with respect, and because of this could very well be called "The most polite sentient race in the Local Bubble region". Most races within the Conglomerate consider it an improvement, but the Nealibiirn species, naturally argumentative, have often rebelled openly even leading to civil war in the past. This general feeling of satisfaction is because of the care the Armark Government puts on all citizens.

The Armark tend to love science above nearly everything else. This has lead them to become more advanced than many other races in the region south of the Local Bubble, even though expansion has been slow at times. They have great skill in terraforming, but use it only if necessary to please a race living in their government or if for military benefit. They also rarely exhibit belief or practice in religion, though the religious population is on the rise. They tend to find it trivial in modern times, and would rather not incorporate it into the government at all. In fact, they frown upon religious laws, using violent acts and injustices caused by religious laws in the histories of other races to support their cause. The Armark have the ability to create new species, possibly due to their heritage. Most Armark believe that they may be descendants of a race of seeders who landed on Ulmegatrus A soon before a massive solar storm that wiped out their technologies, causing them to devolve gradually and then revolve into what they are today. Once this thought emerged, the majority of society began attempting to prove their ancestry, and have found some scattered evidence proving this theory.

Home: Ulmegatrus, in the Valiack System. Valiack is a G-Class star only slightly larger than the star Sol. It has a similar magnetic cycle, but the peaks occur every 25 years. The star is about 3/4 of the way through the main sequence, causing its habitable zone to have shifted outward, putting Ulmegatrus near the middle. Valiack has 4 planets orbiting it, with several rings of asteroids and comets.

The first planet is Ulmegatrus A and its binary partner B. They both orbit 1.1 AU from Valiack. Ulmegatrus A is the home world of the Armark. It is approximately 1.5 times the mass of Earth. It has a warmer climate than Earth's, as it orbits around a brighter star. The cold climates are significantly smaller on Ulmegatrus A than on Earth. Ulmegatrus has twelve continents ranging in size from Greenland to Antarctica, with many small islands scattered throughout the blue-green oceans.

The next planet, a gas giant with 24 moons, caused the formation of an asteroid belt between itself and Ulmegatrus, and orbits at 3 AU. The third planet is also a gas giant, but it is at around 9 AU and has no moons. The fourth planet is a large ice planet about twice the size of Ulmegatrus A and B combined. It orbits at 20 AU, has no moons, and has many ice volcanoes scattered throughout its surface. It is the strangest planet, as it orbits almost 90 degrees to the plane of all other planets in the system, and has caused the formation of a small belt of comets nearby orbiting at the same inclination. It is also the only planet in the system with a ring system.

Tech Level: Interstellar

Pre-History (? - 1406 c.e.):
Little is known about the Armark prehistoric period. It is known that the Armark tribes waged endless war against the H'Railix tribes. The Armark eventually won out, becoming the dominant species on the planet. The tribes then began waging war against each other. After tens of petacycles of this, three tribes were left. The Fennitt, a tribe that was very peace oriented, had ironically gained the largest military due to favorable living conditions. The Arkain, a slightly more militaristic tribe, had obtained the most land. The Xyliad, a zealous and totalitarian tribe, had the most resources, but could not use most of them due to a strange religion (these are not modern Armark).

Xyliad War Era (1406 c.e. - 1919 c.e.):
The Xyliad, after gigacycles of preparation, began making major attacks on Arkain territory. They had captive H'Railix trained as soldiers, and were successfully destroying the Arkain. The Fennitt, who had been left out of the quarrel for a long time, were suddenly attacked by a large Xyliad military division. The Fennitt had expected an attack from either other tribe, and took immediate action. They began advancing south, and due to more advanced technologies (better guns and armor), successfully cut off all Xyliad troops from attacking any more Arkain territory. The Fennitt and Arkain soon became allied, and attempted to defeat the Xyliad. Their first attack was a failure, because the entire Xyliad defense was on the outer edges. Several punctures were made in the Xyliad defense, but the attacking force was too small, and was quickly defeated each time. The more intelligent Arkain realized this, and suggested an elaborate strategy:

They would cease attacks but boost their defense. The Xyliad would spend gigacycles attacking their defense, but the Fennain Alliance (as it came to be named) would persist. After half of a teracycle or so, the Xyliad, due to religious obligations and a low intellect, would try the same highly defensive strategy. They would predict a stretched strike by the forces of their opponent, and so would have their defense spread out. Then, the entire military would break the defense made by the Xyliad at one point, pushing through the middle of Xyliad territory and splitting it in half. The Xyliad, due to the resources in their land, would have to get resources from the southern end of their land to be able to supply their military in the Northern land. They would collapse due to this weakness, and would be conquered. The Fennitt agreed to this plan, and let it begin.

The Arkain strategy began. Over the defensive period, which was two teracycles in length, the plan was hardly working. The defense was barely holding together, and Xyliad forces were breaking through all of the time. When the Xyliad finally retreated, there was a change in plans. The Fennain Alliance, as they came to be known, troops would wait and allow the Xyliad to build up a stronger defense while the Alliance gained more troops. This was necessary, because the military had suffered heavy loss in the defensive portion of the war, but had created flying vehicles. After a five gigacycle stalemate, the Alliance finally made a push into Xyliad territory.

The plan was a success. The Xyliad, due to another religious obligation, could not surrender until the capital was taken. Because the capital was not in the central region of the territory, the Xyliad nearly died out. The Fennain Alliance had won, but needed a final name for their species and new government. The government named the species Armark, after the Xyliad goddess of prosperity Armatil and the Arkain. The Fennitt wanted to not have the species named after them in any way, because they had been more than repaid by the Arkain during the war. Instead, the Armark named their Executive branch of the government "The Fennitt", with the president being titled "Fennittia Prime". In order to be elected Fennittia Prime, the candidate had to be at least 44 U-A years of age. The first Fennittia Prime was Gog Ahn'tn, with his "Fennittia Alpha", or vice president, being Ere W'sigo. A new age of peace occurred, with the Armark gaining more land uncontested. There was no resistance, since no sentient beings had lived there. The government began scientific development, and created many new technologies. They gained atomic weapons over time, and decided to test them on their "moon", Ulmegatrus B.

Post-Conglomeration [Early interstellar, Pre-Tendriin] (1919 c.e. - 2994 c.e.):
The Armark had tested their nuclear weapons on Ulmegatrus B, and were developing new technologies capable of space travel. When they landed on Ulmegatrus B, they found the remains of a tribal race that they had killed off completely because of their nuclear weapons. This made the government more alert on the environment, and they began a new age of ecological studies. They repaired all damages they had caused to the environment, and made the planet a pristine place. This was only able to happen because Dr. Chiimo Ukka found ancient supercomputers in sealed bunkers. Several of them had crashed, and only a few were running. After gigacycles, he had deciphered most of what he could find. These findings contained information on how to restore an ecologically damaged planet, develop directed energy weaponry, and traverse the vast expanse of space. Using this new information, they began exploration and expansion through space, and conquered many nations that had been hostile. They gained most of their current territory, and then stopped expanding for a while. During this time, several civil wars broke out, but were quelled in megacycles.

Pre-Hixoe History [Middle interstellar, Early Tendriin] (2994 c.e. - 3192 c.e.):
The Armark had quelled the civil wars and were ready to expand more. As they expanded, they felt no resistance, and began to feel alone in the universe. They found more ancient super computers which contained information that allowed them to begin genetic altering, but they took it a step farther, making many new species from scratch. They were expanding rapidly to provide space for the increasing population. It was because of this that they contacted the Esoi when they did. Soon, they had helped the bubble fend off the Hixoe threat, and were ready for an internal threat of their own.

Post-Hixoe History [Middle Tendriin] (3192 c.e. - 3952 c.e.):
The Hixoe threat was long gone, and the Armark were tired of fighting. They just wanted to relax and enjoy life. They were developing new ships faster than ever, and had an entire cruise fleet built in 2.5 gigacycles. Just as they had settled in to their new life of political involvement in the bubble, the failed assassination of Radik Teivuur shook the Conglomerate. They were not prepared for such an event, and were in deep despair. Several megacycles later, Radik went on a murderous rampage, killing 23 innocent Armark, 21 non-Armark citizens, and 13 non-Conglomerate visitors. Radik was detained and shot into space.

Several kilocycles later, Radik Teivuur crashed at the Ukka Research Station, stole the TMBA, and began tearing through the local bubble, destroying Armark settlements and research stations everywhere. He reached Sol, and after a large battle, landed on Ulmegatrus A and attempted to kill his brother and the current Fennittia Prime Tendriin Teivuur. He failed, and was shot into space. Little else happened over the next several petacycles.

Current History [Late Tendriin] (3952 c.e. - 3972 c.e):
The Armark were thrown into a state of fear, and still are, after they learned of Radik's second return, this time coming with a small military that he built at the Solari junk pile. Tendriin became ill, and it was predicted that he would pass away before the end of 3973. An election was held, and the new Fennittia Prime was decided to be Craduul Korelaan, the great-grandson of former Armark general Yytorid Korelaan, and he will enter office when Tendriin Teivuur either resigns or dies.

Got a question. You have the following paragraph....are the Armark a species or a group of species? You mention the Nealibiirn as a type of sub species.
Quote:

Other Armark are very important. If one is harmed, all are harmed. They can occasionally sense the death or pain of nearby Armark by the electrical field produced by their bodies. They usually marry only if they are sure of their love, and they rarely divorce. They tend to treat all with respect, and because of this could very well be called the most polite sentient race in the Local Bubble region. This general feeling of satisfaction is because of the care the Armark Government puts on all citizens. Most races within the Conglomerate consider it an improvement, but the Nealibiirn species, naturally argumentative, have often rebelled openly even leading to civil war in the past.

The Armark are a species. The Nealibiirn were conquered after their empire attacked the conglomerate, and as such are not of the same species.

So is this the submission for the Armark as a species or the Armark Conglomerate as a political organization? It reads a good bit as a hybrid of the two (well actually it's a race entry except for a few places where it's the government). Just a question, I'll leave the editing boards now.

Its about the Armark as a species. I guess that The Armark would have been a better title, in retrospect.

That helps....I'll continue my edit. Sorry it's taking so long, just a lot on my plate, and the submission is quite long. That's not bad, just taking me some time to work through it.
